Eastern Shore of MD | Some herbicide labels (Impact, Callisto) list ATZ as a tank mix partner and state on the labels enhanced control of certain weeds if ATZ is used. To me this is its value as well as the residual it provides.
We have gone to using it early post only so as to reduce leaching risk to the environment. I will only use liquid as I do not want to inhaling floating dry ATZ. I will wear a respirator when needed but post corn mix is one time that a respirator is not necessary.
Edit to add: We run a compatibility agent plus some Dawn dish detergent and flush booms every night. I can not remember the last time we plugged a tip.
