Subject: RE: Extend flex vs enlist soybeans

NW Illinois
It has been hard for me to keep my focus on chemistry plans for next year because of my ire about Enlist price.

So generic 24d in 20,21,22 were all within about 10% in price. 23 crop comes along, generic 24d doubles in price due to shortages induced by lack of base tech(24d salt). 24 crop comes along and resets to 20,21,22 price range.
Here sits Enlist, not manufactured by Corteva but for Corteva, by a company in Iowa that also manufactures its own line of generic 24d. Not an industry trade secret, it’s listed on every jug under the EPA establishment number, or where a herbicide is made. Federal law requires it to be listed. This company sells extensively throughout the Midwest and had the ability to reset its 24d price in the market in 24 to previous normal. Lo and behold Dow launches a lawsuit to limit generic companies, like them, the ability to access 24d salt, even though they are just selling it at previous years normal pricing.
Final straw, there was a discussion on here maybe last spring, and a poster brought up a product called Freelexx. I didn’t look into until maybe August. Enlist One is a 4lb per gallon Choline formulation, Freelexx, a Dow product, is also a 4lb Choline formulation. Freelexx is not sold here as it’s labeled for fallow and some small grains, but I looked up on the internet and found I could buy it at 60% the cost of Enlist One.

I so badly just want to used generic Liberty and Roundup post and say screw Enlist One, but an auxin sure is nice security. That would allow my customers to open back up their seed choices into either trait platform if we just spray Liberty and Roundup, without being illegal for either.

If your following the FTC case, they have got it passed to the next phase on the lawsuit.
