Subject: RE: Re wetting soybeans

We have the AGI Suretrack system automatically controlling our soybean bin aeration to add moisture. Versus when we used to attempt to do this manually, this is what I have noticed.

If the beans in the bin are for example 9%-10% moisture, the system will run when the indicators (sensors in the bin floor and outside of the bin) are in the 11%-12% range. If beans are 11%-12%, then the fans ran at 12%-13%. The fans do not run 18% or even 15%. The fans also do not run constantly. They may run for 15 mins and then off for 30 minutes to an hour. They may run 2-3 hours when conditions are just perfect. The system adds small amounts of moisture for small amounts of time to slowly bring the moisture up. By doing it this way the entire bin has moisture levels rise more evenly and slowly versus over wetting and swelling the bottom layers (fans force air in the bottom). We have double the fans capacity at the bottom of the bin and double the vents at the top of the bin. In the last 3 weeks we have maintained the same bin temperature and added 0.4% to the bin average.
