| I think it’s the same in all aspects of farming. Probably in any other business also.
Thad best advice a neighbor/ friend gave me when I started farming 20 years ago, was this, decide if you want to do it or not, and if you do jump in with both feet and take the beating it’s going to give you and the good times.
Now 20 yrs later I am one of the banks favorite interest payers!
My point being that if you try to get in when things are good and get out before there bad, your gonna miss the profitable times every time.
I think it’s just as hard to get going grain farming as it is livestock, both have their challenges but both can compliment each other also. I am a pibsqueek compared to most but I wouldn’t survive without diversification unless I had 2500 acres of row crops vs 600. | |
