Yup up to about 3/4" you can get by with just a good healthy helping of tape. Once you get over that you'll want plenty of tape and thread sealer both. Another fun fact about stainless hardware, always use never seize on stainless bolts and nuts and avoid using an impact if possible. Stainless can gall itself without a little lube and will ruin threads faster than you think. I like stainless, but it definitely has its quirks.
