se Neb | I've got you all beat. In 1969, when I was a senior in college, I had a # 7 drawn in the lottery. In May, I got my 1A classification. That was sure deployment to Viet Nam. On the last sheet of the 1A letter where it tells how to appeal the classification, someone had written, "Please appeal." I did, and so did 2 others in my class from my county that had the same message on their 1A classifications. We went to the next draft board meeting, where we were asked what our plans were. We all 3 said that we had signed contracts to teach. The board basically said, "That's good." we were issued IIA classifications for the duration of the war. The county had enough volunteers! They didn't need to draft anyone! | |
