Does your top wire need to be 52"? We run our top wire at 50" (48" or higher is legal here). Then we run gaps of 8-8-8-7-7. Our reasoning is that our cows don't ever try to jump that high anyway, and having those two spacings at the bottom a little tighter helps with baby calves.
