| It’s probably the linkage up by the lever, it’s staying in low when it should drop to neutral, so when you go the reverse it’s in two gears at once. Lubrication of the linkage helps, replacing worn parts helps, but ultimately changing how you move the handle is best. When going from low to reverse be sure to run the handle almost into high before shifting it over to the right. This ensures the low linkage is all the way in neutral. In all likelihood it’s in the dash not the transmission.
