It takes an experienced operator to use one of those things properly. Front or back is probably too deep, do you notice it pulling off to one side, that should tell you which is too deep using the concave of the blades as a guide. I demoed a JD 2680 and had the same issues which really surprised me. I think the Salford 5200 is a better tool for most conditions.
