I don't spray 360 around anything
Most times --just some a inside the drip line on one side OR pointed at the stump
Trees will start dying on one side at times
FWIW Spike is also made as a granular product in best I remember 10# cans it's a 20G product
just put on gloves and sprinkle a little by the tree --Works --I don't know how it compares in price
BUT I'll say again not instant gratification --some times takes some years to die
