Might not be a bad idea to go up in cylinder diameter to get the pin size you need. I say that because that looks like a LARGE diameter cylinder. When you drop from a 5 to a 4” diameter, for the same load, you must have a little over 50% more pressure to lift it.
6 dropping to 4 you need 9/4 or more than twice as much. Might not be a problem depending on how low the relief on the old pump was. If it was 1000 psi you’re probably good…..if it was 1500, not so much.
That being said, the old cylinder used to lift the load and it still should lift it unless something’s gotten bent. I would see if a good hydraulic shop might be able to find a better seal design or maybe the cylinder wall is bulged etc. Mfht save some cash by going to an expert.
A new cylinder could be double acting so it doesn’t take as much oil to lift it, but that’s probably not a concern like it is in the telescoping type.
