For the last 3 years, I've had all SF6000s as RTK, and used 3000s, 6000s and 7000s on my implements. One day during planting, I got a 3 day demo of SF-RTK and put the 7000 on the tractor, and 6000 on the planter. Kinda interesting, it just used SF3 on the planter and SF-RTK on the tractor rather than handing off the actual SF-RTK signal.
For setting up your own tower, I can understand that. I'm very spread out so it would take 4 different towers to cover my land. If I had a concrete post and battery pack, I could make it work, but why deal with the hassle? We figure it cost us about $20 per minute a planter isn't moving, and that's when RTK is of peak importance. A small hiccup during the best hours to be planting could justify that DigiFarm subscription real fast! | |
