Northeast Missouri | > Sometimes simpler is better, and I'd wager a vast majority of farmers would fall into that group. Absolutely agree.
Unfortunately, anyone selling software tries to wow everyone with what it *can* do--including advanced features that require more time to use and master than most people want to invest in accounting.
Years ago I was explaining to a woman how Classes work in QuickBooks. After getting a basic understanding she said "Great! Now I'll be able to do all my farms and fields in QuickBooks." But "do all my farms and fields" is a pretty fuzzy idea. I could see that she was thinking full blown management accounting, with per-unit costs figured to the nth degree on a field-by-field basis. She had no idea of how difficult what she was suggesting would be.
And Classes aren't even a very advanced feature. It's no wonder people burn out on using software that promises "everything".
But "simple to use" is not an easy sell, partly because we are suspicious of anyone advertising their software as simple: we think either (1) that it's too simple for what I need, or (2) it's really not simple at all...that "simple" is just an advertising slogan.
