south central IL | Why is it that wages and costs are cheaper in the private sector than on government jobs. In Illinois workers who are working for a company that’s doing a government project get paid prevailing wage which is substantially higher than wages paid in the private sector. Also state employees get to retire at age 55 with full benefits for life. I just don’t understand how that’s sustainable. I think there’s waste everywhere that could be cut that although not fun needs to happen. | |
