Subject: RE: Moocall calving sensor

perryton, tx
I’ve been using one on my heifers since 2020. It works, no ifs, ands, or buts. They advertise that it’s suppose to alert you 2 hours or so before calving but I’ve had mine pick up a heifer in early labor 6-12 hours before she actually started the calving process. I only calve out 5-7 heifers per year and I own 2 of the units, I can see where it would not be practical for operations with many animals due to calve at the same time. And of course for mature cows there would be no reason to monitor one unless there was some medical reason. The best part is the peace of mind knowing that I’ll be alerted when a heifer starts into labor and I can keep a close eye if she needs assistance. I don’t even bother doing night checks on them anymore.
