Try to sit down with her and ask her how much she needs to survive after the marriage. See if you can come to an agreement on splitting the assets and the time frame that you can pay. I stretched mine out for 7 years just in case, but paid it off the in 5. Had to fight to get her to change lawyers after we had agreed as she was afraid to tell her lawyer and her lawyer kept trying to start fights. Kept my lawyer on restraint and in the end we paid less than $10,000 in lawyer fees total. Had friends that paid 10 times that with far less assets. Stupid waste over egos. | |
