Has pros and cons. Pasco, Hyrum, Idaho, Colorado, Green Bay and most places in the Midwest all fit into the same mileage category so I have lots of options, but the freight gets old and expensive. We have 3 otr trucks, but seems like I can only ever keep help enough to keep two hauling. 8 axle setups that get shunned by some states.

The rebreeds are becoming much more popular. Who wants to calve Heifers? Lots of ranches in this area are turning more torwards re-breeds than messing around with heifers. Better calves, better breed up, trail better ect., if they are quality cows I think they will sell. Just limit feed so their bags don’t get ruined, silage should be about right I would think, minimal added cash or interest expense. Buying from our area doesn’t bother me much, I know what most cattle are and what to avoid. If we get a nasty spring storm it’ll work awesome from that aspect.

How far are you from the packing plants? Just curious. We are 400 miles from a plant. Couldn’t imagine only being 150 miles from one.
