Our old parlor had a holding tank to catch everything. Used a 3" pump to transfer it to a manure spreader. I would not want anything smaller than 3" when dealing with manure.

I assume your piping is above ground if it is freezing? Insulation is not cheap, but might keep it from freezing: https://www.grainger.com/category/pipe-hose-tube-fittings/tube-pipe-...
