| I have a crossing, that has 2 springs meet right above it....now most of the time the springs either dry up or the flow is not enough to harm the 24 " culvert, but the area drained is close to 500 acres. When it rains a lot all it would do was wash out the culvert. What worked best for me was a mixture of rock and dirt. Since mixing the 2 it has held up to 4 big rain events (water flowed over the crossing). It is not a permanent fix as after the last one, i can see where it is starting to wash around the inlet of the culvert, but it is A LOT better than having to keep replacing the culvert after every big rain.
I dont know what your flow is, but it might not be a bad idea to look at bigger culverts or a railroad car, maybe even look at adding a bunch of rock and packing it down in the mud and just make a crissing without culverts
