Like 6 days ago or 6 months? I do exactly as you have done forward contracting for Nov beans and Dec corn. May roll as needed. Basis for next fall/ winter is usually poor this far out. Short term forward contracts typically don’t work as well for me for exactly as you describe. They get there bushel needs covered and back off.
