Rushmore would be a good variety for you Paul. They are much taller and higher straw yields. We have planted them side by side with reins 3 years ago and yield was pretty much the same. Reins were 160 bpa and 41.1. Rushmore were 150 bpa and 40.3 test weight from memory. Was part of a PFI trial so results are up somewhere on the web. That was my best oat year too.

I don’t have the equipment to swath so have never tried it. Get pretty spoiled with a big Draper and AC. I swathed oats 30 years ago with an old 12 foot self propelled Owatonna windrower. Bad bad memories.
