| I have a Royal? Calf heater. The heater has an automatic shut off and the thermometer in the top. I don’t want it to get over 100*. I’ve cooked them before. That’s a bad feeling. Mine works way better if it’s in a somewhat warm room to start with. I keep it in the tack room. I’ll put a calf in there and go back to bed,especially if I know it’s had colostrum. I believe a cold calf needs to get warmed up, but also needs to be able to regulate its own body temp, and sometimes that takes a while. They need to be banging around in there, if not they will just get cold again. | |
