Driftless SW Wisconsin

Jdel - 2/21/2025 09:16 Been looking for a second loader tractor. Budget keeps getting tighter the more I look. Anyone use a Massey 4710 to handle 5x6 bales? Ideal would be small frame 7 series Deere. But like I said budget. Currently have a New Holland TS 90. Would want much lighter.

You say you want something much lighter than your TS 90 but still want to handle 5x6 bales. 5x6 bales can weigh anywhere from about 1100 lb to 1800 lb depending on moisture and density.. Even smaller, 5x5 wet bales for wrapping can weigh near 2000 lb so I don't think a "much lighter" tractor is going to be able to safely handle a range of 5x6 bales.

If you have one good loader tractor maybe look at a JCB 2700 side door skid or track loader. a real useful 2nd machine to have around and may not cost as much as a good tractor of sufficient size.
