Subject: RE: 30" Cover Crops

West Central Iowa
I bought a case drill on 15" spacing, it had planter row units.
I didn't like it because with cover crop assistance I had to put all the rye in 15" rows instead of 7.5 inches. The rye stooled out and the crop wouldn't grow through the cover very well. Now I broadcast the rye with the fertilizer ahead of corn and beans. I like that the rye is spread out and not in rows. The rye doesn't have to be incorporated if I don't want to, neither the nrcs or the private assistance that I'm contracting with require incorporation.
