SE SD | As long as the manufacturing maintains or better yet increases our standard of living. America has one of, if not the highest standard of living in the world. This is why our population by in large isn't going to sweat it out in a textile mill making clothes. However, they will on average work in highly skilled fields like AI and robotics for example. Those careers pay more and maintain/increase the standard of living.
Sure we can make garments here en mass like back in the 19th century. But as I said, as a consumer in the country with the highest standard of living, why would I sweat it out in a textile mill for low wages and pay double, triple, quadruple, for example for a garment when another country with a lower standard of living can and is willing to produce it for WAY less. Now if we're talking about an AI robot that can make the garment cheaper than a worker in a 3rd world country, we'll then make it here. But not until that happens. In this scenario the robot sweats it out, but the people who designed, manufactured, and maintain the robot make great money.
With technology and nuclear weapons, rockets, satellites, and so on I feel as though it's almost impossible to completely de-tangle. I mean isn't it incredible and even darn right scary that a device in your hand can literally reach almost anyone in the world with a touch of a button? That's a lot of people and it's almost instant! It took days/months on horseback for someone from Rome, England, France, Spain, Russia, Japan, China, and Greece to get a message to the front lines. But I respect your opinion, I don't want to see any wars/conflict either we can agree on that! | |
