SW WI | Good post, white shadow.
As someone points out, Republicans of pre depression era were very big supporters of tariffs. Then came protectionist Democrats of the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. Now republicans, again?
To long to go into detail but the way the world was shaped and allowed to happen post WW2….there was a reason for trade and trade imbalances.
Has that time and need passed? Maybe.
I’ve said before…..seems like every so often, the “ system” gets turned on its head. Lots of upheaval. I hope this doesn’t set the stage for wars and military conflicts as the jockeying for positions heats up.
From my personal perspective….. I hope there is consistency with policy. Any on again off again action is going to cause very volatile markets. If we’re going down this road, give it time to be successful or a failure.
When I say give it time….by no means is that supporting a potential third term of Trump. Hard no from me….and it should be from everyone else, also.
