| Australia is just the most blatant example. Fact is beef imports have been steadily rising while our cow herd gets smaller as do our beef exports. Imports comprise as much as 20% of beef consumption in US. You can pee down my neck and tell it's raining, but 20% added beef from countries that often do not have the same health and environmental standards (thus lower cost of production) has put a lot of strain on prices when cattle producers could least afford it.
