Southern Ohio | Yes. I'm a very small outfit and this only my second year lambing. Didn't lose any last year. Probably 50% loss this year. Kept back ewe lambs and bred them (along with the adults.) Some of these lambs have been very small and were lost because of that. Probably my fault as some of these first timers were probably not suitable to breed. But I've also had a few stillborns from older ewes that appeared healthy otherwise. Even had a ewe that went down and was obviously getting sick a day or so before delivery and lost her and her twins. Last year went great and maybe I had my guard and having a sophomore slump now. A little embarrassing to admit but hoping to learn from it. Problem is that there's just been different types of losses and can't put my finger on "the why" for some of them. | |
