Subject: JD 4920 Sprayer Boom return

Parker, SD
I have been looking at the idea of replacing the boom section end caps with a return line system back to tank/waste dump. It's my understanding this was an optional or standard feature on later model 30 series or maybe not until the R series sprayers. I'm not looking to be fancy, just want an easier way to flush booms with less mess. Also we've been having some kill issues after a flush getting chemical fully into the boom sections. Its my idea/understanding that running a recirc to tank while roading to the field would get the booms filled with chemical. Also when flushing I can run clean water from the rinse tank via the boom rinse function and not have to drive forever on crop ground to get the booms cleaned.

My idea was maybe a 3/8" or 1/2" hose off each boom section end to help maintain "tip pressure" and not ending up with dead zones in the booms, to a 1" or maybe even 2" main return line off each side, back to a manual control valve stack to dump back to tank or "ground" waste containment.
